Arts and Sciences at a Glance
Tufts University was founded in 1852. The University is designated as a "Research University/Very High Research Activity (RU/VH)" by the Carnegie Foundation. The School of Arts and Sciences, located on the Medford/Somerville campus, is the largest of the seven schools that comprise Tufts University, just a few minutes from downtown Boston.

- The Class of 2010 is quite impressive with a mean SAT of 1403, up 6 points from the Class of '09 and 103 points from the Class of '05, and the first A&S class to enroll with a mean SAT greater than 1400; 83% rank in the top 10% of their high school class, versus 79% last year and 57% five years ago
- During the 2005-2006 academic year, GSAS Travel Awards allowed 185 graduate students to present their research at national and international conferences throughout the US and in 10 countries abroad
