Welcome to the Tufts University Department of Music
Tufts Department of Music is one of the largest
and most active departments on the Tufts campus.
Through our vast program of classes, private
study, and performance, you can explore and
experience music in ways you can only begin to
imagine. As an
undergraduate or
graduate, you
can study musicology, ethnomusicology, theory,
composition, and performance with talented and
dedicated faculty. From the Middle East to Java,
from the concert halls of Vienna to drumming and
dance circles of Ghana, from Renaissance Venice
to the modern computer lab, Tufts Music embraces
music in forms from many different backgrounds,
traditions, and cultures. We invite you to join
us and take a course, become a major, or just
experience a concert!
A SPACE FOR MUSIC - THE GRANOFF MUSIC CENTER
From the classrooms, practice rooms, teaching
studios, and rehearsal spaces to - most
significantly - the acclaimed 300-seat Distler
Performance Hall, the Perry and Marty Granoff
Music Center was designed with exquisite
attention to acoustical detail.
