Private Music Study / Lessons - Applied Music
The Music Department provides students the opportunity
for private study of instrumental and vocal performance with the
outstanding faculty in our Applied Music Program.
Instruction is available in a wide variety of western
instruments, instruments from other world, ethnic, and folk
traditions, as well as studies in voice (in many styles). Lessons
may be taken for half credit (0.5) or not for credit. Extra tuition
is required for lessons and private study.
There are three types of scholarships generally available for
private lessons: ensemble, financial aid, and music major/minor
scholarships. In order to receive any scholarship money, you must
apply through Edith Auner
during the first week of each semester.
You DO NOT have to be a music major or minor to take private lessons
at Tufts. All members of the Tufts community can take lessons
through the department. To arrange private study, you must set up an
appointment with Edith Auner,
the applied music coordinator during the first two weeks of each
semester. Extra office hours are held during those time periods.
