Jane Hershey
Director of the Early Music Ensemble

Studies at the Longy School of Music, and The Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Holland, (viol with Wieland Kuijken and recorder with Frans Brueggen)

Early career: Seven seasons with the Boston Camerata: US and European touring, recording with Harmonia Mundi, Dorian and others Member of the trio Charivary, concerts at Boston's MFA and around the US, finalist in 2001 Dorian Recording Competition, performances at BEMF Performances with Smithsonian Chamber Music Society (complete H. Purcell viol fantasias) and Chamber Orchestra (violone in Handel oratorios, Bach's b minor mass) Guest with Hesperus (Washington, D.C.) touring and recording on Dorian and Koch, with a focus on Renaissance music Member of New Quartet, dedicated to new works for Baroque instruments

Current affiliations: Arcadia Players of Western Mass. Chamber works of the Baroque (violone); and Arcadia Viols (viola da gamba quartet) Carthage Consort of Viols: 2005 performances at A.R.T. in Cambridge, in Marlowe's 'Dido Queen of Carthage'. 2010 Cambridge Society for Early Music Concert Series; 2011 Aston Magna Festival

Recent recording on Centaur with Frances Conover Fitch: Music of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre 2011- Director of the 'Wieland Kuijken Residency', week of study and concert preparation by 12 young viol players from around the US, musical direction by Mr. Kuijken, Jane Hershey and Laura Jeppesen, collaboration supported by the Viola da Gamba Society of America, Viola da Gamba Society of New England, and the Longy School of Music Currently serving on the Board of Directors of the VDGSA Faculty Powers Music School and Longy School of Music
