Spring 2013 Saturday Family and Children's Concerts

The concerts on this page are especially designed for children and their families. These concerts are FREE and take place in Distler Performance Hall at the Granoff Music Center. Program information is subject to change.

Saturday Family and Children's Concert Series
Sun Goddess
The Tufts Jazz Orchestra performs music by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Earth, Wind & Fire under the direction of Joel LaRue Smith. Pieces featured include "Tonight" from West Side Story and "Juanito," an Afro-Cuban jazz treatment of "Battle Hymn of the Republic". Tufts' only children's entertainment group, Traveling Treasure Trunk, will open the show.

SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 1:00 PM
Saturday Family and Children's Concert Series
The Rainbow Connection
The Tufts Concert Choir performs a variety of songs centering on the theme of rainbows, including arrangements of "Colors of the Wind" from the Disney movie Pocahontas, "Over the Rainbow" from The Wizard of Oz, and "The Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie. Pianist Crystal Godfrey LaPoint and special guest banjo player Rich Stillman will join the choir for this performance. Jamie Kirsch, conductor.
This concert is rescheduled from its cancellation due to winter storm Nemo on February 9.
