Audition Information
For Admission
Auditions are not required for admission to Tufts University as
an undergraduate or graduate student. Additionally, there is
no required audition for enrolled undergraduates to become
music majors. Many applicants do submit recordings as part of their
application materials, but this is not required either. Students who
do wish to submit recordings are encouraged to send two or three
excerpts that best demonstrate their abilities. The Admissions
Office works with the Department of Music to coordinate evaluation
of the recordings.
For Performing Ensembles
Most of the Music Department performing
ensembles require some form of audition in order to become a
member of the group. Auditions are generally held during the first
week of classes at the start of each semester, and are open to
anyone in the Tufts community. For additional ensemble audition
information, either E-mail the director of the ensemble in which you
are interested, or check the audition wall outside of the Varis
Lecture Hall (Room M155) in the Granoff Music Center at the start of
each semester.
