Biography
Cedric de Leon is an Associate Professor of Sociology. Before arriving at Tufts, he served as Chair of the sociology department at Providence College.

Cedric is the author of The Origins of Right to Work (Cornell University Press, 2015) and Party and Society (Polity Press, 2014) and is co-editor of Building Blocs (Stanford University Press, 2015) with Manali Desai and Cihan Tugal. He has served in numerous elected and appointed posts in the American Sociological Association and Social Science History Association and sits on the editorial boards of Contemporary Sociology and Social Problems. Above all, however, he says that mentoring students and junior faculty is the best part of his job.

In a past life, Cedric was an organizer and local union president. He lives in Providence with his wife Emily, son Ellis, and poodle Atticus Finch.
