Tom Bertulis

Tom has been in the Transportation industry since 1999, focusing on civil engineering, urban planning, and sustainable transportation in the public, private and non-profit sectors. With both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Civil Engineering, his focus has been on placemaking and Complete Streets, assisting in the implementation of hundreds of miles of bicycle and pedestrian routes, and giving dozens of presentations and workshops in half a dozen countries from Brazil to the UK. He has designed cycletracks, planned roundabouts, coordinated traffic signals, and calmed streets from Troon, Scotland, to Mexico City. He is currently the manager of the traffic engineering section at Design Consultants Inc (DCI) in Somerville. Tom volunteers as a technical expert with the Livable Streets Alliance and also sits on the Board of Directors for the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP). He has worldwide experience and a global perspective that was cultivated through the four-hemisphere approach to sustainable transportation. He thinks globally, but bikes locally.
