Robert Hollister, professor of urban and environmental policy and planning, holds a Ph.D. from MIT's Department of Urban Studies and Planning, an M.C.P. from the Department of City and Regional Planning at Harvard, and a B.A. in sociology and anthropology from Antioch College. From 1999 to 2011 he served as founding dean of the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts. Previously he was Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (1996-2001). Professor Hollister directs the Talloires Network, a global coalition of over 220 universities in 60 countries that are moving beyond the ivory tower. He is co-author of The Engaged University: International Perspectives on Civic Engagement and Development Politics, and co-editor of Governing, Leading and Managing Nonprofit Organizations, Cities of the Mind, and Neighborhood Planning and Policy. His research and teaching focus on leadership for change, university-community partnerships, and citizen participation in public affairs.
