Wellington Greenway Opens

Carey Duques '06, Director of Energy and Environment for the city of Medford, celebrates the opening of the Wellington Greenway at the confluence of the Mystic and Malden Rivers. The ceremony took place on October 19, 2012. Mayor Michael J. McGlynn and Carey Duques presented gifts to developer and greenway partner John Preotle of Preotle, Lane and Associates, and his construction manager, Brendan Sullivan.

The Wellington Greenway can be reached the public parking area behind Station Landing, adjacent to the Wellington Yacht Club in Medford.

Chase, Kim, McBrayer consultants on Transportation Research Board project

UEPers team up to complete national survey of Ridesharing as a Complement to Transit. Under a contract between Nelson Nygaard Consulting Associates and the Transit Cooperative Research Program UEP Lecturer Mark Chase, Eunice Kim and Markie McBrayer anchored the research team. The funded project took almost a year to complete and was overseen by a panel of national experts in the areas of transit and ridesharing technologies.

MPP alum Noreen Burke becomes Gloucester Health Director

Noreen Burke has been hired as the new Health Director of Gloucester, MA. Noreen served as executive director of Somerville's Human Rights Commission starting in 1996. In 2004, she became Somerville's Health Director.

Kristen Stelljes '10 builds capacity in Ethiopia
January 16, 2012
Kristen Stelljes '10 became the Population, Health and Environment Advisor in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as part of the USAID Global Health Fellows Program in August 2011. She is placed at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation office and provides technical assistance to local organizations working on integrated development projects that include family planning/reproductive health, health, environment and livelihood components. Much of her work focuses on supporting organizations to document what they are doing and use what they learn to share their results with others. She is also working with organizations to strengthen their capacity to implement integrated projects and strengthen their organizations with support in areas such as fundraising and strategic planning.
