Liat Racin is a social geographer and urbanist with particular interests in social policy, ecology, public spaces, and justice. She received a Ph.D. in urban studies from the Geography Department at King's College, London. Her postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design centered around creating participatory design projects to address urban environmental planning concerns. Since 2016, she has worked with the Engagement Lab at Emerson College to enhance social and data equity for community groups entering academic partnerships. Liat founded and manages Tamim Teas, a specialty tea company which supports local agriculture and family farms. She has won awards from the City of Boston Mayor's Office of New Urban Mechanics, Microsoft New England Civic Technology, and the American Community Gardening Association.
