Certificate Programs

The Certificate in Data Analytics provides an avenue for individuals seeking a credential in data analytics, who may not need or are not ready to commit to a master's program. You will learn the skills needed to gather, organize, interpret, and guide data-driven decisions and narratives in a wide variety of areas. Four courses are required to complete this certificate. Courses may be offered during the day or in the evening, and depending on the instructor, may be either in person or virtual and synchronous. Students who complete this certificate program may decide to continue on and apply to the MS in Data Analytics. If accepted into the master's program, the credits earned toward the completion of the certificate will be counted toward the master's program. 

Certificate in Program and Organizational Evaluation 

The certificate in Program and Organizational Evaluation is designed for professionals who wish to develop competence in the design and implementation of effective evaluation strategies.  Individuals learn practical skills that can be used in a wide range of fields, including education, government, social service, public health, community development, corporate, and environmental areas. It is offered as a joint collaboration among the Departments of Education, Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, Child Study and Human Development, as well as the Data Analytics program. The certificate requires completion of three required courses and one elective. Courses are offered in the evenings and online, making the program accessible to working professionals. It is available in a hybrid and in-person formats.

Certificate in GIScience

The GIScience Certificate focuses on principles of Geographic Information Science, spatial analysis, spatial data management and cartographic design. Individuals gain skills in relevant software applications including ArcGIS. The certificate requires completion of two required courses and two electives. It is designed for working professionals, graduate students and post-baccalaureate students. If accepted into a master’s program, the credits earned toward the certificate can be counted toward several different master’s program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences as applicable. The program consists of a hybrid mixture of in-person and on-line courses.

GIScience Requirements

Certificate in Spatial Data Analytics 

The Spatial Data Analytics Certificate focuses on spatial analysis, geospatial modeling and visualization, and advanced coding and statistical methods. It is designed for working professionals, graduate students and post-baccalaureate students. The certificate requires completion of three required courses and one elective. If accepted into a master’s program, the credits earned toward the completion of the certificate will automatically be counted toward several different master’s program in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences as applicable. The program consists of a hybrid mixture of in-person and on-line courses.
