Summer Camp

We are not currently offering any camps or workshops for students.

Our Early Algebra group provided a free summer camp in 2008 and 2009, as well as a weekend workshop in 2010.

LINK was a summer camp run by a group of researchers from the Department of Education at Tufts University who have been working in algebra education for the past 10 years. We began the summer camp in 2008. For the 2009 camp, we partnered with the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), also from Tufts University. The students at camp were able to integrate the algebra work they did in the morning with hands-on engineering in the afternoon. In the afternoon, students focused on robotics and the engineering design process. Activities included creative building with LEGO bricks and designing movable robots.

One of the main goals of the camp was to provide Boston area students, regardless of their academic profile, with the opportunity to discover new ways of understanding algebra that would ultimately facilitate their learning of algebra during the school year.

Algebra camp proved to be a great success! One student asked if "next year there could be more math in camp" and others spoke of how they never knew that math could be so fun.

Our main priority was to facilitate a better comprehension of the basic underlying principles of mathematical concepts and to make sure the students had fun with math!

We are currently seeking funding to continue providing this no-cost enrichment opportunity to Boston-area students.
