Girls Making in Rwanda
In March, faculty member Linda Beardsley and Ph.D. candidate in Engineering Education Sara Willner-Giwerc visited the Maranyundo Girls School in Nyamata, Rwanda to work with teachers and students to set up a makerspace at the school.
Linda and Pearl Emmons, Multimedia Specialist in the department, just returned from a visit to the school and were lucky enough to attend an award ceremony and student demonstration at the Ministry of Education. Maranyundo girls were being honored with an award for their innovative work in the makerspace building chalk holders and replicating Lego pieces that they needed to build a Lego robot. They each won a tablet and a trip to Dubai for more training!
