Graduate Programs

Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development offers both an MA and a PhD in Child Study and Human Development. Our graduate programs are designed to prepare you for a profession that supports the healthy development of children, youth, and families. Eliot-Pearson faculty and students use a strengths-based approach in our research, practice, and teaching. We value diversity and are committed to pursuing equity and justice in our work and in the world.

Our graduate programs offer students small class sizes, personalized paths of study, and mentorship from professors at the top of their fields. Graduate students have the opportunity to participate in collaborative research that crosses disciplines as well as exclusive internship opportunities that allow students to integrate coursework and research in the field. In addition, our graduate community frequently engages socially at activities organized by the vibrant student organizations (Doctoral Student Voices for doctoral students and the Master's Student Association for master's students), such as film viewings and panel discussions, and department events such as welcome picnics and holiday parties.
