The climate crises of fossil capitalism have made energy transitions urgent, creating new pressures, particularly in Indigenous territories. In this presentation, we take a critical perspective on "green" energy in order to explore how strategies of decarbonization are impacting Indigenous Peoples. Are today's decarbonization strategies decolonizing or reproducing racialized geographies? We explore these issues as they unfold in Eeyou Istchee and Nitassinan, namely Cree and Innu territories.
