Civic Life Lunch – Asking Truth From Power: Reporting on the Trump White House
Tuesday, September 29 | 12 – 12:45 PM ET | Virtual Event
Join Tisch College for a conversation on the media, politics, and race with journalist Yamiche Alcindor. Alcindor is the White House correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, a role she began in January 2018, as well a contributor for NBC News and MSNBC. She often tells stories about the intersection of race and politics as well as fatal police encounters. Previously, Alcindor worked as a national political reporter for The New York Times, where she covered the presidential campaigns of Donald Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders, and before that, as a national breaking news reporter for USA Today, covering stories like the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, the death of Trayvon Martin, and the police related protests in Ferguson. She is the recipient of many awards, including the Aldo Beckman Award for Overall Excellence in White House Coverage. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and was named the organization’s "Emerging Journalist of the Year" in 2013. Moderating the conversation will be Tufts alumnus, current CEO of WNET, and former President of NBC News, Neal Shapiro.
This event is sponsored by Tisch College, JumboVote, the Political Science Department, and the Edward M. Murrow Center at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
