The lecture will examine the elements which have generated the great political upheavals of our time, i.e. global economic imbalences, post-democratic society, the impact of information technology, as well as the effects on human cultural and neuro-cognitive biases. It will also remark the importance for intellectuals to cope with the new scenario, remodeling traditional habits of communication, and viewpoints.
Emiliano Sebastian Zappalá, a distinguished academic researcher in the field of Post-Modern Engagement and Narrative, graduated from the University of Catania (Italy) with a doctoral degree (Laurea) in Modern Literature and Philology. He successfully completed a Master in Language, Culture, and History at the University College London. He is presently working on a PhD dissertation on the "Social, Political, Cultural, and Intellectual Role of Narrative at the Age of Post-Truth" at the University of Warwick (UK). His most recent article Engagement in Minor Key was published in the academic journal Siculorum Gymnasium (Issue N. 4) in November 2019.
