ENVS Lunch & Learn: Puffins- the new canary of climate change

Thursday, February 14, 2019 - 12:00pm

Feb 14, 2019, 12 – 1pm EST

Puffins, down to their last 2 or 4 birds in the state of Maine in the early 1900s, are now 1,300-pairs strong on several islands. They were restored on several islands by Project Puffin, the 45-year-old brainchild of a then-young Audubon bird instructor bird. Their startling changes to population size warns of the seriousness of climate change.
