[STS Lunch Seminar] Making Model Microbiomes

Friday, February 28, 2020 - 12:00pm

Feb 28, 2020, 12 – 1:15pm EST

Benjamin Wolfe
Assistant Professor of Biology, Tufts

Model systems provide scientists with tractable laboratory tools, allowing them to identify and describe complex dynamics in nature. Using Wolfe’s own experiences developing model microbiomes, this talk will illustrate the breadth of conceptual, technical, and practical choices when creating model systems and will ultimately ask: what is the relationship between complex systems in the real world and the inner-workings of a model system?
