Internships - FMS99 Course Information

Doing an internship for credit provides you with faculty guidance, support, and reflection throughout your internship experience. Some internship sites require you to receive academic credit.

For-Credit InternshipsFall or Spring Semester

To earn academic credit for an internship during the fall or spring semester, you

  • Must enroll in FMS99 Media Internships.
  • Will earn 2 or 4 pass/fail SHUs (credits). Course requirements vary depending on the credit option you choose. See FMS99 sample syllabus for more details.
  • Must intern at an on-site location in the Boston area (some remote/virtual hours permitted with consent of the instructor).
  • Work a minimum of 75 hours (2 SHUs) or 150 hours (4 SHUs), complete short papers and weekly writing assignments, and attend meetings with advisor Leslie Goldberg.

For-Credit InternshipsSummer

To earn academic credit for an internship during the summer, you

  • Enroll in FMS 99 Media Internships through the Tufts Summer School. You will have to pay for this course.
  • Will earn 2 or 4 pass/fail SHUs (credits). Course requirements vary depending on the credit option you choose. See FMS99 sample syllabus for more details.
  • Can intern at an on-site location anywhere in the world (some remote/virtual hours permitted with consent of the instructor).
  • Work a minimum of 75 hours (2 SHUs) or 150 hours (4 SHUs), complete short papers and weekly writing assignments, and attend virtual meetings (by phone or FaceTime) with advisor Leslie Goldberg.
