M.S. Requirements

The department has established qualifications to ensure that all degree candidates have a broad background in experimental and theoretical physics. The material below describes the requirements for the Master of Science degree and outlines some possible courses of study, but each student should work closely with his/her advisor and faculty advisory committee to design the curriculum that is best for the student. Authoritative requirements are given in the Tufts Bulletin. Visit Research for outlines of the active research areas in the department.

Please note:

  • All elective courses must be approved in advance by the student's advisory committee.
  • Any exceptions or substitutions must be approved by the student's advisory committee.
  • Additionally, Graduate TA should register on SIS for PHY 405 (counting as 3 credits); Graduate RA should register on SIS for PHY 406 (counting as 3 credits).
