Student Funding

The Department of Sociology has limited funding available for students to attend conferences and to assist with research projects. Funding requests should be submitted to the Department Chair and Department Administrator along with:

  1. Your name, Student ID#, Class Year, and Major(s)/Minor(s)
  2. The amount of funding requested
  3. For what the funding will be used
  4. Rationale for how this funding will benefit you, and why the Department of Sociology should support it. Be sure to include supplementary materials (links to conference site, costs/fees, etc.).
  5. From what other department(s)/program(s)/etc. you are also requesting funding

Due to our limited budget, students should not expect to receive funding more than once in a given academic year. Sociology students who are AKD members may also apply for the Student Member Research Travel Grant. The Undergraduate Research Fund is another valuable source to help pay for some research costs including travel to present at conferences.
