Weather Advisory
Last updated Feb 23, 2026 at 6:55 PM
The university (all campuses) will be closed all day Tuesday, February 24.
Academics - When campus is closed, classes are not expected to meet. Instructors will contact their students regarding making up missed class time and material, if class is cancelled. Individual faculty members may choose to move their in-person class(es) online due to inclement weather and notify students about this in time to meet. Instructors may also choose to record a lecture, provide asynchronous content, or make up the class/material at a later date. Should there be a change in modality, students will hear directly from their instructor.
Libraries - Weather-related changes to the hours of operation for the Tisch, SMFA and Lilly Libraries are posted on the Tisch Library homepage.
Student Organizations – When the University is closed due to weather, all student organization events, meetings, programs, rehearsals, and space reservations are cancelled. Students are asked to reschedule and rebook their events.
Campus Center – The Campus Center will close when the university closes.
Dining Services - Please check the Dining App and/or Dining Services' Facebook page feed for up-to-date information about which centers will remain open and which services will be available.
Shuttles – If the Medford/Somerville and SMFA campuses are closed, shuttles will not operate. All weather-related service announcements will be posted on the Parking & Shuttles Advisories page and listed on the Live Shuttle Tracker.
Public Safety/Parking Bans - Updates for parking bans are listed on the Parking & Shuttles Advisories page.
Health Services - When the campus is closed, students in need of medical advice should call (617) 627-3350 to talk to the on-call provider. Students calling with a non-urgent routine matter that can wait until the next business day are encouraged to call back during operating hours or send a message through the patient portal.
Counseling and Mental Health - When the campus is closed, our building will be closed, and CMHS staff will be working and holding appointments remotely. If you have an in-person appointment scheduled, you can change it to a virtual appointment or reschedule it for another day.
Working during Emergency Closures - When a campus has an emergency closing (such as a snow closure), exempt and non-exempt employees who can work remotely will be expected to perform their regular work remotely unless communicated otherwise by their supervisor. Essential workers will be informed by their supervisor regarding the need to physically report to campus. Please refer to the university’s Essential Staff, Campus Closings, and Early Release Policies for details.
