How did you decide to come to Tufts and study music at Tufts?
I decided to come to Tufts because it offered me proximity to a city without being in the center of it. I didn’t originally apply to the NEC dual degree, but after getting into Tufts, I found out about the program and sent in an application. I am so grateful that I was led here, otherwise I might not have been studying music at all!

Tell us about your favorite music course so far.
I [had] the chance to take the Intro to Music Engineering class for my science requirement with Professor Fox and I really enjoyed learning about sound from a more scientific perspective.

What are you involved in at the music department?
I am currently working in the Music Department Office and Lilly Library! I’m in Granoff at least three days every week. I also have programmed a few pieces in concerts at Tufts, both the Dual Degree Recital and the Tufts Composers Concerts.

What are you involved in outside of the music department?
I play in two bands, one called Chowder at Tufts and a girl band called Petra. I also have a solo project called kinya, and I am currently in the process of recording and mixing an EP, which I am very excited about.

What are you listening to at the moment?
Recently I have been really into the album Negro Swan by Blood Orange. I love Devonté Hynes’ compositions and production, and hope to one day work with him!
