While earning my BA in Archaeology from Dickinson College, I became interested in museum education when I participated in an archaeological dig at a living history museum. I found my passion that summer, and I pursued my degree so that I could continue to facilitate meaningful learning and make a difference in the museum world. I am currently an Engineering Education Associate with the Tech Studio at the Museum of Science, Boston, where I work with school groups and families to facilitate engineering and computer science activities and challenges.

Independent Museum Professional, Football Historian and Curator

My dreams include partnering with a Buffalo museum to create a permanent Buffalo Bills football memorabilia exhibit to inspire and educate the community on the history and passion of the team and its fans. I chose Tufts University to re-career in the museum field. I learned how objects tell powerful stories and are influential educational tools. The networking, camaraderie and intellectual discussions and debates at Tufts stimulated my thinking and energy. My internship with the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI enabled powerful learning experiences to apply my education in real world situations as the museum executed an extensive renovation.

Earning my Masters in Museum Education transformed my dream into a tangible goal, equipped with the knowledge, relationships and passion to realize my objectives. I am now an independent museum professional, football historian and curator. I am currently curating my Buffalo Bills Collection into the Buffalo History Museum, working on a permanent long term exhibit and serving on their Board of Managers. View Greg's video bio.

Coming to the Tufts Museum Studies program from an arts administration background, I had been anticipating tailoring my course load to be as arts-focused as possible to support a future position in an art museum. I was not only thrilled to find myself in a cohort of museum professionals from all different disciplines, from science museums to historic homes, but now consider that interdisciplinary background to be one of my strengths. In my position at an academic art museum managing curriculum integration for high school classes across discipline, I find myself regularly applying theory and best practices learned from coursework, from teachers with experience in the museum field both locally and further afield, as well as from my fellow students whose own museum and education experience is emphasized in the Tufts program as a valuable aspect of the curriculum. View Jamie's video bio.

The Tufts Museum Studies program served as a great foundation for building my knowledge of the museum world in both a theoretical and real world context. I enjoyed learning from professors in the field, building a network of museum colleagues with fellow students, and expanding my understanding of museums to encompass art, history, and science. I still lean on the relationships I fostered in the program today for professional collaborations and advice.
