Film and Media Production Sequence

FMS majors have the option of completing the major by following our Film and Media Production Sequence. Up to four production courses may be counted toward the FMS major, and majors can undertake a two-semester production-based Senior Honors Thesis in their senior year.

Students who follow the Film and Media Production Sequence must:

  • Take the two required FMS Core Courses
  • Take the one required Production "Foundation" course listed below
  • Take three Production Electives from the lists of Intermediate and Advanced Production Electives below. Of these, at least one should be an Advanced Production Elective. NB: Some, but not all, Advanced Production Electives fulfill the FMS major upper-level elective requirement.
  • Fulfill the remaining FMS major electives requirements (Theory, Social Science, Non-U.S. Film, Upper Level).
  • Take an additional, non-production elective to complete the 10 courses required for the FMS major, or complete a two-semester production-based Senior Honors Thesis in the senior year.
