Biography
For the past 30 years, Dr. Allen's research has focused on the development, implementation, and evaluation of community-based interventions aimed at promoting cancer prevention and control in underserved populations, with the ultimate goal of reducing health disparities. Her work emphasizes community-based approaches to identify community needs and build capacity to implement community-driven solutions. She has developed and evaluated peer-led and e-health interventions to promote cancer screening in various settings, including workplaces, churches, public housing, and health centers. More recently, she has studied strategies for ensuring wide-scale and equitable dissemination of evidence-based interventions to address health disparities.
Dr. Allen received her doctoral degree and master's in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. Before joining the Tufts faculty, Dr. Allen was a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and Boston College.
