Remembering Lauren Sullivan, Lecturer in Anthropology and Archaeology
The Department of Anthropology and Program in Archaeology mourn the loss of Lecturer Lauren Sullivan. A specialist in Mayan ceramics, Dr. Sullivan taught at Tufts since 1999, mentoring decades of students here, at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and through her field school in northwestern Belize. Admired for her dedication to teaching and joyful presence, Dr. Sullivan left a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched. She was a beloved teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend and an inspiration to us all. She is greatly missed.
From Lauren's obituary: "She inspired many to pursue careers in the field and helped train some of today's leading Mayan archaeologists. Lauren was best known for her warmth, humor, generosity, cooking, and southern hospitality. She will be deeply missed and always remembered. Her family and friends know she would want them to keep loving, laughing, learning, and digging.
