Welcome to the Department of Urban Environmental Policy & Planning

At UEP, we pride ourselves in educating the next generation of "practical visionaries." We offer programs founded on an interdisciplinary approach focused on the intersection of urban, social, and environmental issues. In addition to our diverse course offerings, community practice and partnerships are integral to UEP. They represent a platform for engaged learning and research, enabling students and faculty to come together to develop innovative strategies for solving local and global challenges, and to build the pipeline of new policy and planning professionals.

Undergraduate Programs

UEP offers a Minor in Urban Studies for undergraduate students as well as Combined Degree programs, which allow undergraduates to complete their bachelor's and master's coursework together, usually within 5 years.

Certificate Programs

UEP offers five flexible certificates for students at various stages of their careers. Many of our certificate programs offer courses online, on the weekends, and in the evening making them accessible to working professionals.

Research

Students and faculty in the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning pursue a wide range of academic paths. UEP offers extensive opportunities in the research areas of sustainability, housing and community development, water, transportation, and food.
