Global Urban Environments
Alongside our rich domestic research program, UEP faculty and students engage in urban and environmental inquiry that is grounded in and attentive to diverse world regions. Faculty expertise spans East Asia, South Asia, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, while our strengths in systems thinking, data analytics, and GIS support research that transcends national contexts and enables critical comparative perspectives on urban and environmental change. Drawing on the department’s interdisciplinary expertise and collaborations with the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, students deepen their understanding of international systems and policy tools that support global changemaking. In keeping with UEP’s mission, this work enables grounded policy innovation and cultivates practical visionaries capable of addressing urban and environmental challenges across diverse social and political contexts.
