Prospective Students

Welcome to the Department of English

With faculty expertise that covers a wide range of historical periods, authors, literary and aesthetic movements, and critical discourse, the Department of English offers courses in: British, American and world literatures in English; film; literary theory; and creative writing. Our courses instill a mastery of critical thinking, linguistic analysis, and persuasive communication in a world that increasingly demands that we not only read but also read through the representations that we encounter. Our alumni often pursue careers in the fields of law, diplomacy, journalism, public relations, publishing, teaching, and filmmaking.
