Tufts Alumna Selected as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar
Congratulations to Tufts alumna Siwaar Abouhala A23, who has been selected as a Knight-Hennessy Scholar to study medicine at Stanford. Siwaar was a triple major at Tufts, completing majors in Community Health, Biology, and Arabic. She was also a Health Careers Fellow.
The Knight-Hennessy Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship at Stanford. Each Knight-Hennessy scholar receives up to three years of financial support to pursue graduate studies at Stanford while engaging in experiences that prepare scholars to be visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders who address complex challenges facing the world. Siwaar is only the second Tufts student to win this scholarship since its inauguration in 2018.
Senior Lecturer in the Department of Community Health Shalini Tendulkar, Professor of Comparative Literature in the Department of International Literary and Cultural Studies Kamran Rastegar, and Lecturer in Biology Robert de Bruijn served as advisors and mentors to Siwaar. Special thanks to Director of Health Professions Advising Amanda Stone and Associate Director of Health Professions Advising Susana Carranza for their work as pre-health advisors and their work coordinating the Health Careers Fellows Program.
