Psi Chi: The International Honor Society in Psychology

What is Psi Chi?
Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology whose purpose is to recognize, encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of students of psychology. To achieve these goals, Psi Chi offers a wide range of local, regional, and national programs to enhance the learning experience of its members. Membership in Psi Chi is open to all undergraduates who meet the eligibility criteria for their local chapter.

Am I Eligible?
The criteria for the Tufts chapter are:

  2. You must be at least a second-semester sophomore
  3. You need to have completed at least 3 courses in psychology at Tufts and have a Psychology GPA of at least 3.50.
  4. You must have an overall GPA of at least 3.65.

How Do I Apply for Membership?
If you are interested in applying, you need to complete ALL of the following 3 steps:

  1. Complete the online application form for the Tufts chapter of Psi Chi.

  2. Bring a one-time membership payment of $55 to a department administrator during regular business hours. Their offices are immediately to the right of the main entrance of the psychology building. Checks should be made out to "Trustees of Tufts College."

Please put your membership payment in a sealed envelope with your name and "Psi Chi Membership Fee" on the front. DO NOT LEAVE PAYMENTS IN MAILBOXES.

  3. Complete an additional online application form on the Psi Chi website for the national chapter. NOTE: You must complete BOTH the Qualtrics form above AND the PSI CHI Registration form for the national chapter as part of your membership application.

If you meet the criteria and complete the steps above, you will automatically be admitted and will be sent a certificate and pin at the end of the semester.

If you do not yet meet the criteria, you can apply the semester you become eligible, as inductions are done on a semester basis.
