Biography

Tony Haouam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Romance Studies, affiliated with the Film and Media Studies Program. He recently completed a joint PhD in literature at the NYU's Institute of French Studies and a PhD in cultural & media studies at Paris 8 University. His research explores humor, race, and spectatorship across the Francophone World, with a focus on stand-up, caricatures, comedy films, and graphic novels. He previously taught at Bard College, NYU, Université Paris Sorbonne, and the Paris Museum of Natural History.
