The Tufts Philosophy Department mourns the loss of Professor Amélie Oksenberg Rorty (1932-2020). A world-renowned philosopher who wrote about a wide range of topics in moral psychology and the history of philosophy, Professor Rorty had been a Visiting Professor in our department since 2013, teaching courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She was an original and deep philosopher, an inspiring and dedicated teacher, and a wonderful and active colleague, always eager to 'talk philosophy'. She will be greatly missed.
