Undergraduate Programs

The Tufts Philosophy Department offers both a major and a minor in philosophy. The department also offers a certificate program in Ethics, Law and Society.

The Minors in Cognitive and Brain Sciences and Linguistics are also administered by the Department of Philosophy.

Programs

BA in Philosophy

Undergraduates receive a BA degree in Philosophy.

Fifth-Year Master’s Degree Program: BA/MA in Philosophy

Our Combined Degree program allows Tufts undergraduates the opportunity to obtain a master's degree in philosophy in combination with their bachelor's in 5 years.

Minor in Philosophy

Undergraduates receive a Minor degree in Philosophy.

Minor in Cognitive and Brain Sciences

The Cognitive and Brain Science minor augments the program of study of other majors with connections to this interdisciplinary area of study.

Minor in Linguistics

The Minor in Linguistics offers students a grounding in contemporary linguistic theory, addresses the interaction of the study of language with other fields, and requires students to develop proficiency in one or more foreign languages.

Certificate Program in Ethics, Law, and Society

The goal of this program is to prepare students for leadership positions by enabling them to use philosophy to think, argue, and write about ethical questions that arise in public life.
