Advanced Placement Test Scores

For French

Placement and acceleration credit are granted automatically on the basis of the following AP Test scores:

AP Test Score Placement Recommendation
Score of 5 Exemption from the Basic Language Requirement (Part I); placement into French 22. One acceleration credit equivalent to French 21 is granted and one course is required to complete Part II of the Foreign Language Requirement.
Score of 4 Exemption from the Basic Language Requirement (Part I); placement into French 21. No acceleration credit is granted and two courses are required to complete Part II of the Foreign Language Requirement.
Score of 3 Placement into French 4. No acceleration credit is granted and three courses are required to complete Part II of the Foreign Language Requirement.


For Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish

Placement is granted automatically on the basis of the following AP Test scores:

AP Test Score Placement Recommendation
Score of 5 Exemption from the Basic Language Requirement (Part I); placement into Italian/Portuguese/Spanish 21. No acceleration credit is granted and two courses are required to complete Part II of the Foreign Language Requirement.
Score of 4 Exemption from the Basic Language Requirement (Part I); placement into Italian/Portuguese/Spanish 4. No acceleration credit is granted and three courses are required to complete Part II of the Foreign Language Requirement.
Score of 3 Placement into Italian/Portuguese/Spanish 3. No acceleration credit is granted and one course is required to complete Part I of the Foreign Language Requirement.
