Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Undergraduates are an active and vital component of the research community at Tufts. There are many opportunities for undergraduates to collaborate with faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers on projects in all disciplines. In addition, there are several resources available for Tufts students looking for research opportunities outside the university or after they complete their degree.

Anne E. Borghesani Memorial Prize - A prize awarded to second semester sophomores or juniors who undertake a research project, internship, volunteer activity or plan of study in any field involving international issues. The prize encourages personal growth and independence, while increasing understanding of all people and encouraging commitment to the world community.

Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy Summer Research Experience - Open to incoming Tufts juniors and seniors, the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy Summer Research Experience enables students to connect with Friedman faculty members to gain hands-on research training in the field of nutrition.

Sandler International Research Program - A generous gift allows the School of Arts & Sciences to pilot an innovative program to fund student-faculty teams conducting scientific research internationally.

Summer Scholars Program - A university-wide initiative that offers research apprenticeships with faculty/clinical mentors to motivated Tufts undergraduates.

Tisch Library Undergraduate Research Award - This award recognizes outstanding undergraduate use of Tisch Library resources and services in the production of an exemplary research paper or project. Winners contribute materials to a Tisch display and submit their entry to the Tufts institutional repository.

Undergraduate Research Fund - Students may request funding for senior theses and for other proposals emphasizing original research that is directly supervised by a Tufts faculty member.

Undergraduate Research & Scholarship Symposium - An annual Tufts tradition that celebrates the diverse contributions made by Tufts undergraduates to scholarship and research advances.

Visiting and Early Research Scholars' Experiences Program (VERSE) - VERSE creates a cohort of undergraduate students who have not yet had research opportunities and allows them to participate in a 10-week summer research immersion experience.
