Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences asserts our commitment to working for equity, justice, and inclusion in a diverse community at Tufts. We condemn the racism that has permeated wider society, as well as all discrimination against people because of their identities. We seek to ensure that every person in our department – faculty, students, staff – feels respected, valued, and safe. We are committed to expanding these tenets beyond our department, first by contributing these departmental efforts as part of the community effort at Tufts University itself, and also by modeling and promoting DEIJ ethics initiatives that our students may carry as values into wider society.
