Minor in Geology
The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences has launched two new majors - Earth Science and Climate Science - and one new minor in Earth and Climate Sciences. Students matriculating in fall 2025 or later will follow these programs, while students in the Class of 2026 or Class of 2027 have the option (in consultation with their advisor) to declare one of the new majors or complete their degree in Environmental Geology/Geological Sciences or minor in Geology/Geosciences. Review information and FAQs about our majors.
The Minor in Geology is available to students in the School of Engineering. Students in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are often interested in this minor, and the courses are designed to complement those programs. However, students in other Engineering programs are welcome and find this minor interesting and useful.
