Minor in Geology
The Minor in Geology is available to students in the School of Engineering. Students in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering are often interested in this minor, and the courses are designed to complement those programs. However, students in other Engineering programs are welcome and find this minor interesting and useful.
Program Requirements and Policies
- The Minor in Geology requires a total of 5 courses.
Course Requirements
The following three courses are required:
- EOS 1: The Dynamic Earth or EOS 2 Environmental Geology
- EOS 22: Structural Geology or EOS 32 Geomorphology
- EOS 131: Groundwater
As well as two electives selected from the following:

- EOS 5: Oceanography
- EOS 11: Mineralogy
- EOS 12: Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology
- EOS 22: Structural Geology
- EOS 32: Geomorphology

- EOS 51: Global Climate Change
- EOS 52: Paleoclimate
- EOS 115: Quaternary and Glacial Geology
- EOS 133: Field Methods in Hydrogeology
