Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Earth and Climate Sciences is launching two new majors - Earth Science and Climate Science - and one new minor in Earth and Climate Sciences. Students may begin to declare these majors in fall 2025. The existing majors of Environmental Geology and Geological Sciences and minors of Geology and Geosciences will be phased out with students graduating in spring 2027. The new degree sheets and FAQs can be viewed at the following links while our website is updated:

Students considering one of these majors should discuss their course selections with a faculty member in the Department of Earth and Climate Sciences. This is particularly important because some upper level courses are offered in alternate years. Careful planning will give students the opportunity to participate in more course offerings, optional field trips, and student-faculty research as an undergraduate.
