IR Internship Award

The International Relations Internship Award is a highly competitive award that is designed to help enable recipients to pursue an IR-related internship during the academic year. Internships may be U.S. based or international. Grants will be available based on demonstrated need as outlined in the application. Select students will receive an award up to $2,000. Typically, semester awards will be less than summer awards. Students must secure their internship prior to the application deadline.

Requirements/Restrictions for Applicants

  • Applicants must be declared IR majors with a GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Students receiving course credit for their internship are NOT eligible to receive this award
  • Students are only eligible to receive an IR Internship Award once
  • All applicants must be full-time matriculated undergraduate students at Tufts University during the internship (graduating seniors are ineligible)
  • Internship must be unpaid
  • Unsupervised internships will not be considered
  • Remote/virtual internships are not eligible

Requirements for Award Recipients

  • Two reflection papers (2-4 pages each) will be due in the middle and at the end of your internship experience
  • Final evaluation from your internship supervisor
  • Summary of expenses at the end of your internship experience

Applications for the IR Internship Award will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications are due at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester in which the internship is occurring. Contact the IR Program for more information.
