As a student filmmaker, you want to express your abilities and explore your talents without making yourself broke. Sticking to a low budget is challenging. But you can do it. Student Academy Awards Competition

The Student Academy Awards is an international student film competition, established in 1972. Each year, college and university film students from all over the world compete for awards and cash grants, with films being judged in the following categories: Animation, Documentary, Live Action Narrative and Alternative/Experimental. Details on future competitions can be found on the SAA website.

The Television Academy

The Television Academy website has much more than just the Emmy Awards! Visit their page to learn more about the Academy Foundation, internships, college awards, and more! Applications are currently open for the 42nd College Television Awards, which will be presented in Spring 2023. Entries will be accepted starting September 27, 2022 for content created from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2022.  Details and rules can be found here on the CTA website.

39th Wicked Queer Film Festival, Boston's LGBTQ+ Film Festival

Submissions are now open for the 39th Wicked Queer Film Festival! The regular deadline is November 28, 2022.

Save the dates the first fall doc fest and their annual spring festival:

  • November 18-21 - Wicked Queer: Docs
  • March 31-April 9 - 39th Annual Wicked Queer Film Festival
