Welcome to the Film and Media Studies Program
Mass media saturate our lives, making media literacy an indispensable civic skill for the 21st century. Offering both a major and a minor, the Film and Media Studies (FMS) program at Tufts University is an interdisciplinary program that will educate you about the artistic potential and social effects of film, television and other modern media.
Undergraduate Programs
In our undergraduate program you will become a more discerning and active user of media — able to understand and employ them as powerful art forms that can change society for the better.
Internships
In media internships, you will not only learn how film and media industries operate and influence the public, but also develop technical skills and business savvy. Some students even turn their internships into jobs after graduation.
Beyond the Classroom
Students in the Tufts Film and Media Studies program engage in many experiences outside the classroom, which enhance their film and media education. From internships and film festivals to student productions, study abroad opportunities, and guest lectures by industry professionals, these activities deepen students’ understanding of media in practice and broaden their creative and professional horizons.
