Minor in Chinese
The Minor in Chinese is intended for students wishing to apply their training in Chinese to a broad range of professional and academic pursuits.

Program Requirements and Policies
- Six courses are required for the Minor in Chinese.
- Students must receive a grade of C- or above for it to count towards the minor.
- Up to two culture/film/literature courses from Tufts-in-Beijing will be accepted toward the minor. One culture/film/literature course from a non Tufts-in-Beijing program can count towards the minor. Students should discuss with the Chinese Program director, prior to their departure, whether or not a course will be accepted as a literature/culture course after they return from studying abroad.
- Minor Forms, once submitted, will be sent to the Program Director, Xueping Zhong, for approval. After it has been approved, you will receive a copy of the approved form. Submit the approved checklist along with your Student Degree Audit and any additional signed major and /or minor checklists to Student Services through the electronic submission portal.
- If substitutions are made, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure the substitutions are acceptable to the Department of International Literary & Cultural Studies.

Course Requirements
- 6 courses beyond Chinese 4, including:
- Two 100-level language courses
- At least two literature/culture courses
- There are three combinations of six courses from which students can choose from:
- 4 language + 2 literature/culture
- 3 language + 3 literature/culture
- 2 language + 4 literature/culture
