Minor in Russian

The Minor in Russian offers a strong foundation in the Russian language and introduces students to Russian culture through literature and film.

Program Requirements and Policies

  • 6 courses are required for the Minor in Russian.
  • Students must receive a grade of C- or above for it to count towards the minor.
  • Minor Forms, once submitted, will be sent to the Program Director, Greg Carleton, for approval. After it has been approved, you will receive a copy of the approved form. Submit the approved checklist along with your Student Degree Audit and any additional signed major and /or minor checklists to Student Services through the electronic submission portal.
  • If substitutions are made, it is the student’s responsibility to make sure the substitutions are acceptable to the Department of International Literary & Cultural Studies.

Course Requirements for Liberal Arts Students

The minor in Russian requires six courses as follows:

  1. Four courses above the intermediate level (Russian 3-4), which must include two courses in Russian at the 100 level.
  2. Two literature or culture courses in the Russian area.

Course Requirements for Engineering Students

The minor in Russian for Engineering students requires six courses as follows: 

  • four language courses above the beginning 2nd semester) level – 3, 4, 21, 22; one fourth-year level or higher language course (121 or higher); one literature/culture course in the respective culture OR one course in the social science concentrating on the area in which the target language is spoken.
