Biography

Frank S. David, MD, PhD, is Professor of the Practice of Biotechnology in the Department of Biology at Tufts University. He is also Managing Director of the biotech R&D strategy consulting firm Pharmagellan and a member of the Harvard-MIT Center for Regulatory Science.

Dr. David's work aims to help established and emerging biomedical companies, entrepreneurs, and investors maximize the value of innovative R&D. An active consultant, author, and educator, his current interests include approaches to assessing and managing R&D risk for new therapies; the analysis and interpretation of clinical trial results; regulatory strategy and policy for novel drugs; drug pricing and the economics of the biopharma industry; and financial modeling of R&D-stage therapeutics.

Dr. David is the author of two industry handbooks, "The Pharmagellan Guide to Biotech Forecasting and Valuation" and "The Pharmagellan Guide to Analyzing Biotech Clinical Trials," as well as several academic articles about drug development and the biopharma industry.

At Tufts, Dr. David teaches courses on drug development and professional skills aimed at MS students and advanced undergraduates and mentors biology students on "alternate careers" (non-medical, non-academic).
