Careers

UEP graduates have ample opportunities for meaningful work. Alumni work in a wide variety of settings, for example local and state planning agencies, environmental and conservation organizations, housing authorities, transportation agencies, community development corporations, neighborhood-based organizations, private consulting firms, and social welfare agencies, among others. The American Planning Association's 2018 Salary Survey offers a glimpse of compensation levels for some of these jobs.

The department is committed to assisting students in locating internships and employment. UEP keeps an active and up-to-date library of job and internship postings, previous internship employers, and other career resources. Off the Wall, a weekly email newsletter sent to current students, alumni, and faculty, contains UEP announcements, information on upcoming lectures, events, conferences, "Fun Stuff," and lists job and internship postings.

Off the Wall Newsletter

Department faculty and administrative staff maintain contact with a widespread alumni network through LinkedIn, which has proven to be invaluable to students seeking internships and jobs.
