  Anne Howarth

Private Lessons Instructor, French Horn 

Anne Howarth is Assistant Professor of Horn at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she teaches brass pedagogy, brass orchestral repertoire, horn lessons, and chamber music and Private Lesson Instructor of Horn at Tufts University. She is deeply curious about the ways in which shared musical experiences forge connections, invite deeper dialogue, and inspire contemplation. Fueled by a passion for small ensemble collaborations, Howarth is a founding member of the mixed-instrumentation chamber group Radius Ensemble, a senior member of the wind quintet Vento Chiaro, and a core member of Juventas New Music Ensemble. She holds Principal Horn chairs with the Lexington Symphony and Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Portland Symphony Orchestra, Rhode Island Symphony, and Hartford Symphony Orchestra, among others. A strong proponent of new music, she has commissioned several chamber works, including “Connect All. We All Connect.,” by Oliver Caplan - a reversible meditation on the ways in which live performance connect us - and “Canta La Sal,” a trio for horn, cello, and piano by Judith Shatin. Curious about the intersection between live music and movement, she has collaborated with Monkeyhouse and dancer/choreographer Karen Krolak for performances at First Night Boston, and Bent Wit Cabaret. During the covid-19 pandemic shutdown, Howarth explored enhanced approaches to solo performing, combining horn playing with lighting and technology elements to produce multimedia digital content for livestreaming and archived viewing. She has presented on recital programming at the International Women's Brass Conference and the International Horn Symposium. A native of the Detroit area, Howarth holds undergraduate degrees in both Horn Performance and Environmental Studies from Oberlin College and Conservatory, and earned her Master of Music degree in Horn Performance at New England Conservatory.

Liz Jewell

Private Lessons Instructor, Trumpet 

Liz Jewell is a Boston based freelance trumpeter and instructor. As an orchestral musician, Ms. Jewell has performed with regional orchestras across New England, including Vermont Symphony, Portland Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Springfield Symphony, Plymouth Philharmonic, Cape Symphony, as well the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra and Bach Beethoven and Brahms Society. As an educator, Ms. Jewell teaches maintains an active private studio in the Greater Boston area. She has served as clinician of trumpet and brass sections throughout the region, and currently serves as brass coach of the Tufts Youth Philharmonic.  She received a Master of Music from the Indiana University School of Music, and a BA in Music from Western Carolina University.
