  Robert Couture

Private Lessons Instructor, Trombone

Robert Couture is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, and principal trombone at Boston Ballet, Boston Lyric Opera, Handel and Haydn Society, and the Boston Landmarks Orchestra. He has performed and toured with the Boston Pops Orchestra and recorded with the Boston Ballet, New England Ragtime Ensemble, Boston Pops, Boston Camerata, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Dinosaur Annex, and Handel and Haydn Society to name a few. One recording with the Handel and Haydn Society, Lamentations and Praisesby John Tavener, won two Grammy awards in 2003 for best chamber composition and best performance by a chamber orchestra. Another recording with the New England Ragtime Ensemble is featured in the Ken Burns documentary, Jazz, where you can hear Mr. Couture's trombone solo in Jelly Roll Morton's Smokehouse Blues. In addition to Tufts University, Robert serves on the adjunct faculty at Wellesley College. He is also Vice President of the Boston Musicians' Association.

  Anne Howarth

Private Lessons Instructor, French Horn 

Anne Howarth is a founding member of the mixed instrumentation chamber group Radius Ensemble, and performs often in the greater Boston area. She holds the position of principal horn with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra and Lexington Symphony and freelances with other orchestras, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Hartford Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and Portland Symphony Orchestra. Anne plays throughout New England with the wind quintet Vento Chiaro, which is in residence at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute every summer. She maintains a private teaching studio in Somerville, MA, teaches horn at U Mass Boston, and is on faculty at the Preparatory and Continuing Education Divisions of the New England Conservatory. Anne holds degrees from Oberlin College and New England Conservatory.

  Michael S. Milnarik

Private Lessons Instructor, Tuba/Euphonium 

Michael S. Milnarik has performed in Canada, Italy, Japan, and throughout the United States. He is a member of Innovata Brass & Percussion, Brass Sect. Keys & Brass, Cosmopolitan Tuba Quartet, Dr. Fidgety Dixieland Jazz Band, Toobis Groovis, Brass Planet and performs regularly as a soloist. In addition, he is often heard with most of the orchestras in northern New England, the Albany Symphony, the Key West Symphony, in new music ensembles, Dixieland bands, jazz groups and in the recording studio as a session player. Education being very important to him, in 2006, Michael founded the Cosmopolitan Tuba Euphonium Workshop summer program which he ran for seven years. In 2013, he founded the Milnarik Music Initiative for Performance, Education and Business to help musicians at all levels navigate the competitive climate of the music business, and in 2014 added the MMI Tuba Euphonium Academy and MMI Brass Splash! Brass Ensemble Academy to the organization's offerings - both summer camps for high school, college and excited part-time playing participants. He runs an online store called TubaStudio.com that carries tubas, euphoniums and related items. Michael is the tuba and euphonium instructor at Tufts University, Brandeis University, Salem State University and has a select private teaching studio. Formerly he taught at the University of Southern Maine for eight years and the University of Massachusetts Lowell for five years. He has a Master of Music degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
